10th International Conference
on
International Trade Mark Laws & Practices
from
19th to 21st December, 2005
at Hotel Radisson, New Delhi
About The Seminar
The modern economy is fast emerging as a global economy.
The foundation and focus of trade has shifted from national
scenario to international scenario. The geographical
boundaries are disappearing for making trade a “Global
Market Place” for goods and services. As a result
the composition of world trade is changing and one centrifugal
force that is supporting this change and would regulate
more closely in time to come is International Trade
Mark Laws & Practices. Therefore understanding of
International Trade Mark Laws & Practices for regulating
and protecting one's Trade Mark world over becomes critical
for the business growth.
The exploitation of Trade Mark has become an industry
in itself. The cost of protection of trade mark is enormous;
at the same time, the suffering from the loss of trade
mark could be fatal. The number of major “Trade
Mark Wars” is growing between competitors and
contemporaries, besides growing threat from international
exploiters, causing great damages to one's trade mark.
National Trade Mark laws vary substantially in terms
of Trade Mark registration and renewal requirements,
protection and enforcement mechanisms and at the same
time the standards for determining similarity of marks
often vary widely among countries, therefore the companies
must have reasonable and fair assessment to international
protection of their trade marks, for which they need
to understand broadly international practices. Business
houses considering obtaining foreign Trade Mark registration
as a necessity or either as pro-active or as defensive
strategy, need to understand many more issues such as
risk that Trade Mark registration may be subjected to,
cancellation for non use, how valuable it could be against
counterfeiters, how registration could strengthen the
value of license, how national first registrants exclusive
Trade Mark right could prevent foreign registration,
the willingness of court to protect a Trade Mark and
the economics of gaining and protecting the right abroad,
among other allied issues. The seminar is organized
to deliberate all these issues and provide the Industry
first hand information on various aspects of Trade Mark
Laws & Practices in U.S.A., Europe, China and Gulf
countries. The seminar is a platform to understand,
deliberate and clarify all doubts on the subject, which
otherwise may not be possible in short spell. Therefore
the seminar is must for those who are involved in developing,
protecting and promoting the trade mark in any manner.
How The Seminar Is Unique
This seminar is the premier gathering of Trade
Mark Attorneys, Brands Consultants, IP Counselors, supported
by Intellectual Property Judge in the field of Trade
Mark Laws, from various parts of the world. This is
an outstanding educational and networking opportunity
for those involved in the development, protection and
promotion of trade mark in any manner. The conference
will provide an opportunity to receive first-hand information
from experts on the latest development affecting Trade
Mark issues in U.S.A., Europe, China and Gulf countries
including recent Judgment on 'Parallel Import in European
Prospective' and the importance of Brand Power and Brand
Protecting Strategy would also be well covered. The
speakers have thorough knowledge on the subject and
have been practicing in the field for many decades.
The speeches of the speakers would be sent to the delegates
registered for the conference in advance for better
understanding and deliberation during the seminar. The
program has also arranged an open session of thirty
minutes at the end of each day to answer any of the
questions related to Indian Trade Mark Laws and the
session would be chaired by Senior Indian Trade Mark
Attorney. The seminar is one time opportunity to understand
international trade mark issues for protection and promotion
of Indian Trade Marks, globally.
ABOUT THE ORGANIZERS
About the Institute
The Institute of Intellectual Property Research and
Practice was established as a society in the year 1995,
primarily to provide industrial training and education
in the field of intellectual property rights, their
practices and legal enforcement in an international
scenario. Intellectual property being intangible in
nature is more fragile and needs international protection
and commercialization in a global economy. In order
to protect and commercialize intellectual property,
the knowledge and update of international scenario of
intellectual property is critical. The institute has
been regularly holding international seminars as one
of its focused activities to educate and sensitize Indian
industry with international happenings in intellectual
property. The institute organizes these seminars on
its own or in collaboration with various government
and international agencies.
The institute also provides a platform and medium
to exploit intellectual assets to maximize economic
gains and hones intellectual skills in the field of
IPR in India. In this direction the institute has established
a Valuation Centre which undertakes valuation of all
kinds of intellectual properties and an IPR Audit Cell,
in order to make IPR as low investment growth mantra
and manage IPR-Risk. The institute also provides assistance
in transfer of technology, licensing, remittance, accounting
of damages for infringements, verification of royalties
and license fee to foreign countries and many more cognate
and allied subjects. The institute has a centrally air-conditioned
and well laid out premises. It has well furnished and
equipped library holding more than 3000 books on intellectual
property itself and all facilities are directed towards
the goal of learning and imparting the benefits of intellectual
property research and practices to Indian industries.
